The Yukon
The early visitors to the Yukon came on foot, or by dogsled.
They came for gold, mostly, and mostly were disappointed. Many
did not live long enough for the disappointment to set in. Still,
the tales of these brave seekers, and their legends, live on.
The Area is still pretty sparsely settled, and has much of the
wild feel of those old days, even today. For my part, I took a
bus up to the Yukon. I left from Skagway, as did many of the
early seekers of gold. |
