This is a stainless version of the classic Colt Government
model of 1911. The gun was introduced in the fifties, in answer to a government
call for a smaller lighter replacement for the standard sidearm.
This gun was purchased as a companion to my Colt
Gold Cup, and Marlin Camp Gun. It seems a shame to subject the precision
mechanism, of the target oriented Gold Cup, to the rigors of field use.
As suits a field gun, this will be the stainless version of the commander.
